Title: OceanBase£ºA distributed shared-nothing relational database

Abstract:
OceanBase(https://github.com/alibaba/oceanbase) is a distributed relational database widely used at Alibaba Inc. As a scalable RDBMS built from scratch, OceanBase can not only support SQL and transaction(ACID), but also easily scale to hundreds of billions of records across hundreds of commodity servers on-the-fly with fault tolerance. It has provided relational database services for more than 30 projects in the product system and serves billions of real-time queries every day. The largest single table in OceanBase has more than 110 billion records, and it can provide much higher transaction per second (TPS) and query per second (QPS) than traditional relational database.

Bio:
Chuanhui YANG is the architect of OceanBase development team with Alibaba inc, his research interests are distributed storage and database system. Before joined Alibaba inc, he has been a senior software engineer with Baidu.com. He received his bachelor and master degrees from the Department of Computer Science and Technology, Wuhan University.

Title: BAAS ¨C A Distributed and Decentralized Access Control System for Baidu IAM

Abstract:
Identity and Access Management (IAM) become increasingly important and complex for regulatory compliance and information security in large organizational infrastructure. To develop new strategies in IAM vision and roadmap planning, Baidu recently launched a new project, BAAS (Baidu Authentication and Authorization Services), aimed at implementing effective identity management and access control security for internal service communications and data access. As a result, BAAS leverages static and coarse-grained access configuration in the past to a dynamic and fine-grained access control approach with simplified administration, allowing information sharing and collaboration across organizational borders or trusted zones in a secure manner, as is to meet the mainstream ¡°need-to-share¡± paradigm in current distributed and collaborative scenarios. The theoretical foundation and developed core techniques in BAAS are based on proof-carrying authentication and authorization (PCA), role and attribute-based access control model (R-ABAC), etc.

Bio:
Ye Wu is a senior architect at Baidu Inc. His research interests include computer security and programming language theory. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stevens Institute of Technology, USA. He is also the recipient of NSF and US Army research sponsorship, published near 20 papers at international conferences, e.g. ACM SIGPLAN, IEEE S&P, LNCS, ENTCS. Before joining Baidu, he has been an architect at Tencent Inc. leading a project for cloud computing security.
